A Critical Dialogue at Sciences Po
The forum opened at Sciences Po Paris with a keynote speech by Michał Kurtyka, former Minister of Climate, President of COP24, and a distinguished alumnus of the university. His address laid the groundwork for a comprehensive exploration of European security and its implications for both Poland and France.
Energy Security and the Green Transition
Day two convened at the Polish Embassy in Paris, beginning with a vital discussion on "Energy Security in Poland and France in the Context of the Green Transition." The panel examined how both nations can balance security with sustainability. Insights were provided by Jacek Bogucki from Bank Gospodarstwa Krajowego, Jarosław Ćwiek-Karpowicz representing Poland at the OECD, and Romain Le Creff from the Iliad Group.
Diplomacy, Sanctions, and Cybersecurity
The agenda then shifted to the geopolitical realm with a panel on "International Sanctions on Russia in Response to the War in Ukraine." Experts debated whether economic sanctions remain an effective tool in international diplomacy. Speakers included Gniewomir Wycichowski-Kuchta from DZP, Julia Besz of Natura&Co, Sophie Gabillot from SQUAIR, and Eero Kristjan Sild, an international security researcher.
The final panel addressed the technological frontier: "Challenges and Opportunities for Poland and France in Protecting Critical Infrastructure from Cyberattacks." Discussions on strengthening cybersecurity in key sectors were led by Félix Aimé of Sekoia.io, Adrien Gevaudan from Électricité de France (EDF), and Professor Andrzej Kozłowski from the University of Łódź.
